Our next General Membership Meeting (GMM) of the semester is coming up! In this GMM, we’ll be sharing updates on bargaining, hosting a membership panel and electing delegates to the IFT convention. Your presence at this meeting is vital! We need to hear from all members to push for a strong contract that addresses all the issues we face as workers.
We’ll have two meeting options, one online and one in person. Both meetings will discuss the same content, so attend whichever works best for you:
The online GMM will be held on Wednesday, October 5 at 12pm on Google Meets. Register to receive the meeting link here: tinyurl.com/2022GMM105.
The in-person GMM will be held on Thursday, October 6 at 5:30pm at the Channing Murray Foundation (1209 W Oregon St Urbana). You don’t need to register ahead of time for the in-person meeting.
Attend Bargaining Session 14!

The next bargaining session will be held on October 7 from 2:15-5:00pm in the University YMCA Latzer Hall, Room 114! The administration is insisting that we focus on “monetary items” in negotiations, and drop our proposals surrounding social justice and worker rights, such as the elimination of international student fees, extended bereavement leave, and childcare. We need your presence at the bargaining session to remind admin that these ARE workplace issues. By showing up, we show admin that we will support each other until we win a fair contract with fair wages AND worker rights.
Come to the session for as long as you can. You can also attend online if you have public health concerns by emailing officer1@uigeo.org by October 6 at 11:59pm. We will caucus before and after the session to answer any questions members have about bargaining, and hear everyone’s perspective on steps we should take together in bargaining. The pre-session caucus will go from 2:15-2:30pm, and the post-session caucus will go from 4:30-5:00pm. Your voice matters! See you there on Friday!
