Talk to your Coworkers

Few GEO RA's doing a hands-in-cheer

Organize your Coworkers

Need some help starting a conversation about unionization in your workplace? We have some tips! Want more help? Reach out to us at officer1@uigeo.org - we’re always happy to support you.

Step 1: Listen

The union’s function is to assist workers in making positive changes in their working conditions.

Get close and stay close. Learn about common and unique pain points. Encourage your coworkers to fill out the RA Issues Survey sent by GEO to all UIUC RAs.

Step 2: Activate

Ask agitating questions.

Are your coworkers unconvinced of the need for a union? Get inspired by common issues in our RA Testimonials and our Frequently Asked Questions.

Step 3: Our Rights

Researchers deserve respect! Remind your colleagues of our hard-won rights for TAs and PGAs.

Get inspired! What issues would you like to see resolved? Some ideas:

  • Professional development/conference stipends
  • Start-up/relocation bonuses
  • Year-round funding

Or take a look at what other Unions have won.
