Twenty-seventh Bargaining Session
***202 days since our contract expired on August 15th***
Our Strike Continues
The GEO Strike will continue into its eighth day on Monday, March 5 and pickets will resume at 8:00am.
Thank you for making this the strongest strike in GEO history and the longest strike on the UIUC campus! Our picket lines grew each day, and we came together to show our collective strength. We are renewed and ready to picket again on Monday. We need you out there
Bargaining Update
The mediators suggested the parties meet this weekend. The GEO bargaining team is always ready to meet if it will move bargaining forward, however the Administration did not arrive with anything different from previous sessions. No proposals were exchanged today. We made it clear that our strike is strong and we are not backing down from our position: if you are employed doing bargaining unit work, you receive full compensation per our contract, including a full tuition waiver, regardless of what department you are employed by or study in.
The Administration knows that the stakes are high, but our strike is going strong and we will stay out as long as it takes to save our union, protect tuition waivers, and ensure access to education for all!
Our next bargaining session is currently scheduled for Wednesday, March 7th. Our Bargaining Team is ready to meet whenever the Administration would like to.
